Gem City Groundlings

At Gem City Groundlings, we believe that theater—especially the works of Shakespeare—belongs to everyone. Our mission is to bridge the gap between classic theater and modern audiences by making high-quality performances, education, and artistic opportunities accessible to all.

Through community-driven productions, free lectures, and educational workshops, we inspire lifelong learning and appreciation for the performing arts. Our commitment extends beyond the stage, as we actively engage in prison reform initiatives, using theater as a tool for rehabilitation, self-expression, and personal growth.

As Dayton's only Shakespeare theater recognized and registered with the Shakespeare Theater Association we strive to give back to the community by offering free classes, outreach programs, and inclusive performances that welcome people from all backgrounds and all at high caliber and professional levels. Whether in classrooms, correctional facilities, or public spaces, we bring the transformative power of storytelling to those who need it most.

Gem City Groundlings is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) that is more than a theater company—we are a movement dedicated to making Shakespeare and the performing arts truly for everyone.
